Work Experience

15th June 2010

This week, over 240 Year 10 students from Fortismere School are out on work experience across London. The range of places is impressive with students at well-known organisations such as Arcadia Group, the BBC, Bloomberg, the Greater London Authority and the Army. Local employers in Haringey have been very supportive and have offered a wealth of interesting opportunities to help students learn about employability skills and develop their confidence - contributors include Haringey Council, Age Concern, Corporation of London, Barrons Hairdressing, Cramer Pelmont Solicitors and East Coast Mainline Trains. Additionally, HEBP has organised several alternative work experience programmes for students specifically interested in creative arts and enterprise. Students are currently working at the Chocolate Factory in Wood Green with staff from Artikal Films, Formula UK and Streetz Ahead Unlimited to gain valuable insights into film and sound production and to learn about careers in dance and drama. Here at the Tottenham Green Enterprise Centre, we have twenty young people involved in projects designed to help them discover what it takes to set up and run a small business - all being put through their paces a little like the youngsters on Young Apprentice.
